Summary
They were supposed to make it, to be that couple that went from best friends to high school sweethearts to partners for life. But now, ten years had gone by and it was strange to think that him and George had spent more time apart than they had ever been together - strange, because it seemed like yesterday they were sharing milkshakes on a diner that didn’t even exist anymore, so many memories that belonged only to the two of them that not talking was like losing a part of himself all over again.
(Or: Dream and George broke up right before graduation, and after almost a decade apart, Dream finally returns home. If seventeen-year-old George had been pretty, George at twenty eight is breathtakingly beautiful, and it takes Dream barely two months before he’s sure he’s fallen for him all over again.)

George laughed, sincerely. “We can sleep without the blankets if you want.”
“You’d want to?” Then, “sometimes I do that actually. Patches will get up on my bed and even that is too warm and crowded for me.”
George formed a frown on his face. “I don’t want to crowd you.”
Another pause. George could tell that Dream’s hand had covered his mouth.
Then, very fondly, Dream whispered, “you won’t. I promise you that you won’t.”
Somehow, close was not close enough.

“Your jaw is rougher than I imagined. It’s, like, stubbly, or whatever.”
Without opening his eyes, Dream smiles under George’s soft hands. “Well, I haven’t shaved since this morning. Why were you imagining touching my face, anyway?”
George doesn’t reply, and maybe that’s what gives Dream the confidence to say what he says next.
“Maybe you should kiss me, too. Just to see if that lives up to your imagination.”
George arrives in Florida. It takes four days to film the meetup vlog, and only three for Dream to completely lose his mind.
