House didn’t believe in powers of the universe or divine intervention, but when the beautiful young man he had been eyeing for the past two days got hauled off to the Orleans Parish jail in handcuffs, House considered reshaping his entire worldview. Maybe there was a god, and maybe he wanted House to meet those deep brown eyes and perfect cheekbones.
“I took care of it,” House said.
“Why?” he asked, sounding more annoyed than grateful.
“Why?” House repeated. He stopped and turned toward the man, did a onceover from head to toe. He then said, “I’m at a mind-numbingly boring conference. In the past 48 hours, you’re the only person here that’s kept my attention for longer than 30 seconds.”
The man raised an impossibly bushy eyebrow at him. “Are you hitting on me?”

Summary
She feels muzzy, like she's been asleep for a while, and the room is warm. Then, the noise that must have woken her happens again: a soft, sharp inhalation, like a closed-mouth gasp. It's followed by a rustling sound, skin sliding over fabric, and the grunt again. It's coming from behind her, from where House is lying in the other bed. Her first, slightly revolted thought is that he's masturbating. But then the choked-off gasp comes again, this time accompanied by a hissed "Goddammit", and her brain clicks the diagnosis into place.
House is in pain. Thirteen helps.
