Yelena coughed on the thick smog in the air, the familiar sounds of rapid fire barraging the space overhead.
The waves of gray spun around with the wind, occasionally revealing the burning orange sky above.
She hears choking somewhere next to her, the blond crawling lowly towards the noise.
Her gaze focuses on a downed figure behind the smoke, wide beady eyes staring back at her, blood spilling from the soldier’s lips.
“Hey,” she presses her hands to his bleeding chest “you’re going to be fine, you hear me? You need to stay awake.”
God, he’s young, no older than twenty. What were they thinking sending children out here?
