“What?” Vincent repeated again - he had such a way with words when he was on air so it was undeniably laughable how quickly it all fell away under pressure. “Alastor, we’ve been dating for two months!”
Like a record scratching, Alastor’s mind came to halt. Every thought of reassurance and affirmation shattered as he was left with that same single word.

“Deal’s not a deal till we shake on it, pal.” the boy extended his hand. “The name’s Alastor.”
Vincent looked him up and down warily, but accepted his hand. He gripped it tightly, and gave it a strong tug, just like his father had taught him. “I’m Vincent.” He deepened his voice just a smidge. 'You can always tell a real man apart from a daisy just from his handshake', his father always said.
Alastor gave a slight giggle in response, seemingly amused by the bizarre greeting. Vincent still wasn’t sure if he was laughing at him or if he just laughed at everything. He found he didn’t care that much either way, now that his initial anger had passed. Alastor had a nice laugh.

Summary
Hell is other people. Purgatory is being a twenty something weatherman with the memories of a being a media overlord who had the entirety of Hell wrapped around his finger.
Sent back to his mortal life with a chance to "do it right this time", Vox has a problem. The Angels have installed a patch in his soul: the Pacifist Protocol. If he tries to kill a rival, poison a boss, or throw a punch, he is paralyzed by blinding agony.
He cannot claw his way to the top if he can't use his claws. He needs a loophole.
