Summary
Fighting the hands that held tight to his arms and shoulders, the hooded slave was shoved forward and then forced to his knees. “You see Sovereign,” the leader from the north continued, “this slave is a demon such as we have never seen before and I fear that only you, in your great wisdom will know what his appearance in our world could mean.” With this said the hood was jerked off of the slaves head.
The gasps and cries heard around the room were for Spock, a direct reflection of his own astonishment. Kneeling before him in a breechcloth and shackles was James Kirk.
This story takes place after Amok Time and Journey to Babel. Spock and Kirk are transported to a setting in Ancient Vulcan by an alien woman. Jim is considered a demon and Spock must find a way to keep them both alive.

As he reached the bottom of the steps, his eyes found and then narrowed on Jim and a shudder ran down his spine. Ridiculously, he couldn't look away, as if the dark gaze had paralyzed him.
"Jim, do you think it's true what they say?" Winona asked at his side, shaking him out of the hold the Vulcan had on him. Looking down at his mother, he asked, "What are you talking about mom?"
She leaned into his ear and whispered. "They say that Sarek and Amanda had a half Human, half Vulcan child. Do you think it's him?"
"Where's the Human part?" Sulu asked from behind him.
