Summary
After the Civil War with Captain America, Tony is left permanently damaged. With the reactor intact, it had nearly killed him, and Steve had left him to die there.
Tony awakes to a world of responsibility, and a sudden awareness of the electricity surrounding him. The shield slams down on his chest and Tony feels the impact before he even hears it. Agony rips through him so violently it steals every ounce of air from his lungs. The arc reactor is forced back into his chest, too deep now. Its whirring too fast and burning too hot; destroying the tissues underneath it and ripping apart the metal hollow meant to keep it from ripping into his organs.
He's dying.

Summary
At the end of fifth year, Harry has a lot on his plate to deal with after the events in the Ministry of Magic and the death of his beloved godfather Sirius. Vernon Dursley is having a terrible day at work and the only outlet for his rage is his distracted and unprotected nephew.
Where Vernon doesn't care about the warnings given by the wizards that came with Harry and severely injures him, leaving him for days on his own to die until his magic finally kicks into survival mode and sends Harry straight to the hands of an unexpected protector.
