Is it weird, he wonders, not to tell Rozanov that he’s getting the surgery in Boston, that he’ll be in his city for at least a few weeks this summer? Should he tell him?
Shane would want to know, he thinks, if Rozanov was in Montreal for weeks at a time. He isn’t sure what exactly he would do with that knowledge: offer to let him crash in a guest room? Give him sightseeing tips, restaurant recommendations? Stupid to think about. But still, he’d want to know.
He almost thinks he’d be able to sense it even if he hadn’t been told. He’s always had a sixth sense for him, aware of where he is at all times on the ice, an invisible frisson between them when they stand near each other in public, every hair on his head bending toward him, like a sunflower toward the sun.
