One day, Jean wakes up, and it isn’t normal. It, his breathing, the universe, the way the world spins when he plants both feet on the floor and tries to haul himself out of bed. It’s the same feeling as being at sea for a long time and forgetting what it means to walk on land. Everything seems to sway, as if he can still feel the ebb and flow of waves beneath his feet, even though he has never seen the ocean in his life.
He remembers a different time, a different place, different people, and a different boy.

Kageyama had been used to cold shoulders and disobedient snarls and whispered words of contempt, which is why Hinata’s volatile praise shoots through him like a projectile. He’ll squint, puzzling for a short second, before Sawamura calls for another and Kageyama’s mind settles back into volleyball, volleyball, volleyball. Hinata sits as an unattended kettle on the metaphorical back-burner of Kageyama’s brain, his insistence and fervor preceded by a shrill, keening whistle.
He gets headaches, to say the least.

Summary
World War Two AU.
Jean Kirschtein is an American pilot who uses his mother's French citizenship as his one way ticket to France, to a fighter jet he's always dreamed about, and to fight in the war as the Germans press harder and harder through Europe. When his plane crashes and he is horribly burnt, he wakes up in a British field hospital.
Captain Marco Bodt was just a medical student studying in London when England declared war. He looks at the young man with the burns and tries his best to stay disconnected; he has watched too many soldiers die on his operating table. But when he meets Jean Kirschtein, he is determined that Jean will not be one of them.
The first part of a story of six people, kept apart by time and distance and split decisions and fate itself. Brought together by accident; brought together by the war, even if they shouldn't have been.

He’s not sure how he knows he’s dead, but he opens his eyes and sees the building across from him and the gore strewn merrily across the cobblestones and he knows he’s dead the same way he knows that the sun rises in the east and that Jean will never, never get over this.

Apparently balancing a growing relationship with the freckled pool boy is harder than it looks, when coupled with a more than dysfunctional family life, a cheating scumbag for a father, and a seriously lonely existence.
An AU of equal measures fluff and angst featuring pool cleaning, roof-top smoking, lots of parental problems, and mainly shirtless Marco.
