Summary
after years of working as an er nurse, you’re back where you know the rhythm best—only this time as a fourth-year medical student. learning how to think like a doctor is one thing but surviving the emergency department all over again is another. thankfully, it starts feeling a little less daunting when one earnest, slightly awkward medical student from nebraska keeps finding his way into your day. you tell yourself you only find dennis whitaker endearing. really, that’s all it is.
or,
dennis whitaker thought the emergency department would be the hardest part of his rotation, then he met the girl who always seems to know what to say, never laughs at him, and somehow makes even the longest shifts feel lighter just by being there. now he keeps catching himself hoping she’s on the same patient, the same trauma, the same side of the department. he’s pretty sure the giddy feeling in his chest has absolutely nothing to do with her (definitely noooot).
