Celebrations are in full swing on Ajan Kloss after the Resistance's glorious defeat of the First Order, but all is not as it should be. Summary
After the events of The Last Jedi, Rey and Kylo Ren seek to gain a powerful advantage over the other for their respective causes. In the same place. At the same time. Setting a sequence of events in motion neither of them expected. And causing a rupture in the Force that flings them into a very different galaxy far far away. What if in that place Rey fortuitously got everything she ever wanted? What if Kylo had no First Order to rule? What would happen if neither of them had any memory of the lives they lived before? Except maybe sometimes. When things get interesting. Which makes a tentative (and unwelcome) mutual attraction in their first year of art college in Ireland rather complicated and frustrating. When Rey and Kylo figure out something's seriously amiss in their current lives, they must work out what that is. And what they really mean to each other and where it is they are supposed to be. Because the galaxy they have left behind is facing a threat only they can conquer. If they ever stop being so absorbed in each other to even think about figuring out how to get back there, that is. Adam jumped up. “I’m not that. I’m not. I am neurotypical.” He walked to the door and looked outside. “Where are they?” He opened the door, then shut it again. He slapped the glass and jiggled the handle. Then he shook his hand up and down quickly as he walked back to the chair...
Adam collapsed in a chair and put his head down into his hands. He rubbed his face and rocked slightly. Rey had seen this behavior before in neurodiverse people when they got overwhelmed or anxious. Adam was having a panic attack.
Rey moved closer to him. Maybe she could help calm him using techniques she used with her brother.
First, connection. Slow and steady. Second, no stimulation. Keep it quiet, keep it small. Third, remember, he can’t hear you right now, she said to herself. He’s dissociating. He’s protecting himself. He needs to be grounded. Many neurodiverse people had grounding plans, but if Adam considered himself neurotypical, he likely had nothing in place to help him.Series

She turned roughly away when she felt a stray tear roll down her cheek. God damn it. It was so mortifying. Of all the people in San Francisco she could break down in front of, it had to be Ben-fucking-Solo. She took a few steps backwards, intending to spin around and run away before she could embarrass herself any further, but a large hand wrapped around her wrist before she could.
“Wait.” He didn’t say any more for a second. He only looked at her, his eyebrows drawing minutely together, as if he was puzzling through a stubborn bug, an impossible problem.
Then, just as Rey was about to shake his hand loose, she heard him ask, “Do you want to?”
UK borne Rey Unkar thought she finally found a home in Silicon Valley: she has close friends that love her, a great career at Resistance Labs, a vacation to Puerto Rico in the plans, and even an online friend who she can nerd out with on all things C++. Then, her H-1B extension gets denied and she has 10 days before she is required to leave the U.S.
