Summary
Nix, Fish and Frankie were over the moon when they were told they were chosen by skating legend Victor Nikiforov himself to be taught at his rink in America. But upon arriving, they are informed Victor was asked last minute to be the choreographer for the Olympic US Skating Team and instead, they will be taught by the rink's head coach, who they know nothing about!
Day one finds them meeting an exhausted-looking chunkier Asian man with more scruff than face and black hair tied up in a messy bun. He introduces himself only as Yuuri and immediately gets down to business with a stern, gruff coaching style akin to that of a drill sergeant. Just who is Coach Yuuri and why was he of all people chosen to be head coach?!

Summary
Keith has been training for this for months. So despite feeling like everything else in his life is falling apart and could be summed up with a big, blaring question mark, he finds himself halfway across the world with Shiro and Allura, preparing for his first ironman triathlon. He was expecting some typical touristy activities and a grueling day of physical activity. Lance has been in a rut, unable to find the happiness that once filled his life. Everything looks gray, and he feels suffocated. “Pidge,” Keith protests. “I mean it.”
“And I think you have a cryptid customer,” Pidge says.

Summary
Keith remembered Lance’s heartbroken face when Keith had shown him his acceptance letter to Oregon State two years ago, how Lance had tried to force a smile onto his face to say ‘congratulations’ but had only ended up asking ‘why’ instead.
Keith had said he’d just needed a change, but the truth was he’d been running away. He shouldn’t have let Lance’s relationship with Lotor dictate his life but the thought of going away so he wouldn’t have to watch it had sounded so good. It just hurt. Watching Lance with someone else had always hurt.
“... I needed you.” Lance’s admittance hit Keith in the chest like a kick from a horse, and he was crying again, but not out of anger this time. The salt from his tears stung at his split lip, and not for the first time that day Keith didn’t know what to say.
“I’m sorry.”

The lines he had been rehearsing in his head were standard for retail workers. There was the “How can I help you?” line, and the more polite “What can I do for you?” one.
They were almost second nature by this point, and Keith should have been able to ask them without batting an eye. Unfortunately the lines got muddled somewhere on the road from his brain to his mouth, and ended up coming out as a strangled “How can I do you?”

When Lance showed up to Keith's cabin in the middle of the desert for their regular Friday game night, he hadn't been expecting his long-time crush to want to team up in a trivial game of Mario Kart . He definitely hadn't expected them to win, but miracles do happen. Finding out that his long-time crush had a long-time crush on him too was also unexpected, but Lance had learned to roll with the punches. The kiss they shared on Keith's couch was certainly a surprise too.
Though the cherry on top of the whole cake, icing and all, was the mismatched family of kittens that had taken up residence under said crush's porch. And when Keith requested that he help get them out and nurse them back to health like they were their children? Total surprise, but hey, Lance was adaptable.
