Summary
"Tomorrow is broken. Tomorrow is nowhere."
A year has passed since the Phantom Thieves struck down a god and saved Tokyo from a terrible fate. But when people all over the globe begin to suffer from "Paranoia Syndrome," mysterious seizures which leave them contorted and unconscious, Akira Kurusu finds himself in the Velvet Room once more, demanding answers for the affliction. His investigation leads him to the Dead Sea, the rotted remnants of the cognitive world, where all things go to be forgotten - including someone the Thieves had thought to be long gone.
Meanwhile, Akira's comatose body is found in the waking world, and his terrified friends suspect the worst. Akira's confidants struggle to learn the truth behind Paranoia Syndrome, while he and Goro Akechi approach a fated confrontation in the decaying shell of the cognitive Tokyo. As the sickness continues to spread, the Phantom Thieves must reunite and destroy the evil festering beneath the Dead Sea's waters, before its malignant influence unravels civilization forever.

Knocked the brain straight out of me and finally woke up dazed to remember I did not bookmark it. Still a little dazed but who can say if that is the affect of thinking thoughts or if it is just the natural side effect of waking up in and of itself. Anywhooo...
IIRC, themes include (but are not limited to) coping with an uncertain future, complex & coexisting contradictions, and like, just SO much trying. All the trying in the world. Excellent characterization, straight-up hypnotically immersive writing, so much work and thought evident in here that it almost aches. And nothing to say of how wonderfully everything ties along into and within itself. Will definitely be rereading in the future.

how did i not bookmark this before? all these years? i could write pages of analysis if i wanted to. very good dissection of bill's character, pulls him apart and rearranges him in all sorts of ways. not only that, but well-written, compelling, engaging, the whole nine yards. is it nine yards? fuck sports references. what i'm getting at here is AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Summary
Osomatsu had always liked dismissing responsibility and living his own life his own way, even if devils like him were created with a clear purpose: to oppose the Heavens. Either way, that doesn't stop him from accidentally forming a bond with a certain megami. At the same time, trouble rumbles in the pits of Hell, and suddenly Osomatsu is forced to deal with his unruliness among the demons. When he's no longer safe from harm in his own home and birthplace, he finds himself surrounded by an unforeseen group of misfits, as they struggle to fight their way out of the mess they've become tangled in.
