"I’m here with you. That’s not nothing, right?”“No,” Peter agreed. It definitely felt like something, all the way up here with Johnny so close they were almost touching.
Peter looked at him, at the full lips set in a slight frown, the sharp curve of his jaw, the way his hair fell across his forehead. He fit all the dazzling lights around them, warm like sunshine even in the middle of the night.
“Beautiful,” Peter said before he could stop himself.

Summary
Peter Parker, who, despite his stupid serious face, had a pretty girl on his arm all the time. Peter Parker, hotshot photographer with his own published book of photos. Peter Parker, with the brain that had impressed even Reed.
Johnny was in that Peter Parker’s body and all he could think about was how massively unfair it was. How unfair that Johnny had to live in a universe where Peter Parker was already all that and it wasn’t even enough. Oh, no.
Peter Parker’s goddamn abs just had to be so much better than Johnny’s.

Summary
At the beginning, when it was new, Reed had theorized there must be other universes, many of them, perhaps all of them, where they were close. And so Johnny joked, "What, so we're soulmates?" and Peter gave the ceiling his most affronted lead-paint stare for the following ten minutes.
But much later, when they were sitting in his dorm room, and Johnny was yapping his ear off about some car he had 'rescued' while leaning way too far into his personal space, Peter had to admit. If he had to be stuck with someone for all eternity or whatever, there were worse people to suffer with than Johnny Storm.
(or: Peter slowly coming to terms that he may like Johnny a little more than he really wanted to admit.)
