“Construction worker,” Buck began slowly. His eyes shifted to Hen, then continued down the line, quickly passing over Eddie as he viewed them all. “Ranch hand. Navy man? Sailor?” His eyes widened. “Wait. Construction worker, ranch hand, Navy Seal trainee, stripper, bartender. You guys are me! The me’s before I joined the LAFD.”
“We have a winner!” Chimney announced. “Didn’t know if you had it in you, Buckley.”
“How— Why—?” Buck spluttered.
“Because it’s funny,” Ravi said, clapping Buck on the shoulder.
“We drew from a hat,” Hen explained. “I think it worked out pretty well. Thank god Bobby didn’t pull what Eddie did. Athena is the only one who needs to see anything like that.”~~~~~
OR: The 118 all dresses up as different versions of pre-LAFD Buck for a Halloween get together. Eddie's costume leaves little to the imagination, and he takes authenticity to a whole new level.

“You really wouldn’t mind if I had sex with someone else?”
Ilya does mind. Hearing it said back to him, almost makes him flinch, a sudden and brittle sound right next to his ear that he fails to recoil from in time. But he swallows back the bitter truth and replies, “Of course not. If that is what you want.”
He waits, sitting on his living room couch, phone pressed painfully against his ear, his other hand gripping his knees till his knuckles blanched. He could feel his own heart rattling behind his ribs, pulse rockingloudly. His mind was an echo of alarm, demanding of him: Why isn't Shane saying anything?
It was the loudest silence he’s ever lived through, until Shane finally said, “Okay.”
OR: inspired by the fight in TLG where Ilya tells Shane he can sleep with other men. But this time, Shane actually takes the offer.

Shane doesn't know how long they sit there in silence.
He isn't counting seconds or minutes as the time passes by, quiet and heavy in the dim light of the hotel room. Instead, he counts Ilya's breaths—the ones that tremble and shake against the skin of Shane's neck, the ones that are buried in the fabric of Shane's shirt, the ones that become steadier the longer that Shane holds him as tight as he can.

Ilya’s hand wraps around his bare wrist and squeezes. Shane barely stops himself from collapsing to his knees.
The pressure lights up every receptor of his touch-starved nervous system, wrenching a small, pained noise from the back of his throat. Every muted sensation comes flooding back so intensely that it almost hurts. He needs Ilya to hold him down until there’s nothing inside him but quiet. He wants to sink into him and disappear.
It takes Shane an entire beat to remember where they are. Fighting against the fog in his mind, he manages to drag his gaze up to meet Ilya’s.
There’s a slow-dawning horror and understanding on Ilya’s face.
