They thumb through the matted plant sprouting from the rocky crevice. What normally would be soft lilac littered about is petals of shiny violet ore. Reaching into their pocket they flip out their knife, carefully slicing a stem from the mesh to examine further.

They eventually reach a giant door with swirling heart and negati designs. The sutasuta stops in front of it, squawking, urging the human to go in. He lets out a sigh and reaches for the bronze handle.
Peeking inside he sees not the king of the negati but a being dressed in white, gold markings lining down their tendrils.

At the mention of his name, Ratio stills, a light startle in his step as he turns to face Aventurine. He drops his hands, lacing them back together in front of him. He looks dazed, normal intensity lost from his eyes as they open glassy and vacant. They flex wide with recognition, but he doesn’t say anything.
Ratio goes quiet, and Aventurine doesn't know what to do.

True to their pre-evolution biology, inklings and octolings can change the colour of their tentacles, whether on command or due to their mood. Most cephalings find it delightful, and love showing off a wide range of colours.
For one octoling, it mostly proves to be inconvenient.Series
