The irony of becoming a florist wasn't lost on Iris. It's not like she'd planned it—she'd been a barista, a personal assistant (briefly) and a reporter—but she'd never felt more at home than among the flowers. Surprisingly, a background in reporting was useful. She could look past what people were saying and figure out what they actually meant.
