Summary
Sam has thought about what it would be like to see Bucky again, of course he has. Scenarios and outcomes have popped into his head over the years, often at the most inopportune times. He thought he’d imagined all the possibilities, but somehow ‘sitting across the table from Bucky listening to Scott Lang and Stephen Strange argue about the fate of the multiverse’ failed to make it on to his bingo card.

Summary
“I’m not.”
“Not what?” Sam’s forehead furrowed as he searched Bucky’s hooded expression.
“Gonna get into any more relationships. I’m not made for them. Not if they’re not with you. I…” Bucky swallowed hard. “I’m not running. Or hiding. Or even pretending. I’m just done. I’m never gonna be able to really give myself to someone I don’t trust. And I only trust you, so I’m done. You can…” He cleared his throat. “I don’t expect you to feel the same. Don’t expect anything to change. You got options. I don’t. It’s you or no one else."
OR: Sam and Bucky are meant to be together. Now if they'd only stop dating other people long enough to realize it...

Summary
“You’re gonna have to come in eventually,” says Sam, then he takes a deep breath and steps away from Barnes, back towards the club. “But it doesn’t have to be now.” Barnes’ eyes widen, and he goes utterly still. “I’ve got some conditions though, if I’m gonna let you go.”
A year after the helicarriers go down, Sam finds not the Winter Soldier, but Bucky Barnes, who's trying his best to live and not just survive while on the run. Sam finds him and keeps finding him, and eventually, Sam finds himself too.
An alternate take on canon where Sam and Bucky have been secretly meeting up since after CATWS.

Summary
“Friends, huh? That what we are?” There’s suddenly a deeper tone to Bucky's voice. He's probably sitting in his office, with his secretary right outside. Behind the same desk they banged on a few weeks ago. God. Sam inhales and shifts around in his chair.
“That’s what you said. Right, buddy?” Sam revels in the ever-suffering groan Bucky lets out. Knows he’s tossing his head back, opening up the smooth length of his neck that Sam loves to dig his teeth into.
“I explained about that.”
“Was that before or after you choked me out? Can’t recall right now. Maybe you can jog my memory—”

Summary
Quiet footsteps enter the room from somewhere behind him and Sam has to bite his tongue to keep from lashing out, forever doomed to never having a single moment alone again. There's always somebody trying to speak with him to remind him of all the chaos that has been started since he took up the mantle of Captain America, it’s enough to drive a saint mad.
“This is a private room. Go away.”
The steps come closer as he keeps his eyes trained on what he can see of Joaquin.“I missed you too.”
