Summary
Missing Chris is less of an emotion these days and more of a physical entity. He’s sure everyone can see that he’s slowly hollowing himself out, that he can’t do much of anything else.
But when Jee laughs at him trying to get his tongue to touch his nose, and Mara loops one of her arms through his to keep him from tossing the rest of his cup in the garbage, Eddie feels solid again.
Maybe he likes yellow birthday cake ice cream after all.
(or, gerrard messes with the team's schedules and eddie 'i just drove my son to flee the state' diaz is the only option to watch mara and jee-yun after school on tuesdays, which, shouldn't be a problem at all, right?)

Summary
If Buck analyzed the worst days of his life, they would all have one thing in common – they all started out great. If he ever concentrated too much on that pattern, then every good thing that ever happened to him would probably just give him crippling anxiety as he waited for the other shoe to drop. And that afternoon would have definitely caused him intense anxiety based on how good it had already been so far.
But then maybe he would have known to quit while they were ahead and go home, and they wouldn’t have gotten into such a mess.

"They are his parents Eddie" Hen says as if that's an acceptable answer.
"This bullshit facade they are putting on won't last. I guarantee it." Eddie says.
"You think so? They seemed to be trying at dinner the other night. They were better behaved than my dad was."
"Mark my words. If they stick around, I'll walk on one of Chris' Lego sets. Barefoot." Eddie responds.
"I'll take that bet." Hen says. "But I want video proof of you walking on a Lego set."
"Same stakes?" Eddie asks, and Hen nods. "Done!" Eddie says, smirking at Hen.
