Summary
At the end of Act 4, I set out to close read the trolls’ chatlogs in the context of Internet trolling as a phenomenon, aiming to ask whether the Homestuck trolls’ strategies and intentions reflect those of actual Internet trolls, and whether they achieve their intended outcomes. In other words, are they good at what they do? I quickly realized that the answer to this depends on an entirely different question, one that can’t yet be answered for definite: are the trolls telling the truth?
In this essay I talk about the typical behavior of a 2000s Internet troll, then examine the trolling strategies of each troll who’s interacted with the kids so far. I discuss how well the Homestuck trolls fit the profile of real Internet trolls if they’re being honest with the kids vs if they’re lying, and what this would mean for the story in each case.

Summary
It'd only been a little while since the game ended and they'd all been released out onto the new planet, left to their own devices to settle down and finally start to heal whatever wounds they'd snagged on along the journey. Tavros figured it only make sense for there to still be scars lingering.
He kept finding Gamzee sitting alone in their shared hive, brooding quietly over Lord English's once all consuming hold over him late at night. He tries to lead his best friend back out of the dark, even if the failure is starting to get to him.

Summary
Jane had never really been interested in owning a troll; many other humans did but Jane never felt the desire to do so.
First, she was too busy doing her business degree even if she was working on it from home and secondly she wasn't exactly comfortable about having an intelligent apex predator living in her house.
Of course, she hadn't counted on catching a feral troll rummaging through her garbage at three in the morning. She remembered all the signs and posters and commercials everywhere- never feed a wild troll, because if you did they would immediately associate you with food and then start permanently hanging around which would drastically increase the chances of being mauled. After all, trolls were known to kill bears and could even open doors on their own; even 'tame' trolls were dangerous and should be handled with care. Wild ones were even more capricious and could easily kill a human.
However Jane took one look at the troll's lanky frame, unkempt fur and lackluster scales and she knew she couldn't just ignore him. The cooking genes in her were too strong for her to turn away the hungry.
