Ochako was trying her best to get over it, she swears it didn’t affect her, promises all the times she’s cried, all the times she’s panicked at loud noises were just moments of weakness. Shoto noticed how she put her feelings aside until she couldn’t take it anymore. It became more prominent when they had moved in together and gotten married. Shoto watched as the love of his life destroyed herself day in and day out, he felt like there was nothing he could do for her. She was persistent on finishing her work before going to sleep. She’d kiss him on the cheek and tell him goodnight before coming into their shared bedroom late into the night and climbing into bed with him. Sometimes, Shoto would find her slumped over her office chair, her head resting in her hands and soft snores emitting from her. He would call her in sick that morning.

She could still remember staring at Carly's body every single day, weighing up in her mind whether eating the granola bar at the bottom of her bag was worth it. She could still remember staring at her phone screen watching messages pile up and knowing she couldn't answer them, because she wasn't allowed to. She could still remember seeing herself in the mirror and feeling tears slip silently down her face.
