All the blood in Hanbin's body seems to rush to her brain at once. The stranger in question turns around, her blonde hair swirling over one shoulder like this is the set of a shampoo ad instead of the reception area of Seoul's busiest hospital.
"Jiwoong Oppa!"
They meet one another in the middle of the hallway in a cinematic grand reunion, the ghost of Hao leaning up to press a kiss to the man's cheek. It doesn't make a physical sound, but Hanbin can hear it all the same. She thinks she'll hear it echoing in her nightmares over and over again every night for the rest of the week.
But Hanbin is totally over the break up, don't get her wrong. One hundred percent.
SUNG HANBIN has the perfect life--her dream job at Seoul's most prestigious hospital and the best coworkers (no matter how much they love to tease her for her workaholic tendencies). There's just one problem. Her Hollywood-famous ex ZHANG HAO has decided to cross the Pacific and take a dive into the big, wide, creative world of K-dramas. Which would have been totally fine, except, why did she have to choose the one drama that was filming at Hanbin's hospital?

He looks more like he belongs on a runway than in ZeroBase’s postage stamp-sized kitchen. Tailored black slacks match his perfectly pressed button-down shirt, as dark as the dolsot clay pots at their highest temperature from being heated directly over the open flame of the stove. A shock of red hair as bright and waxy as a ripe apple is curled artfully over his forehead, drawing attention to the sharpness of his eyes lined by a perfect wing. Silver earrings dangle from both of his ears, and Gyuvin notices a tiny beauty mark under one of his eyes shaped like a sesame seed.
The mystery man makes a deep bow of greeting to Hanbin, nearly 90 degrees if Gyuvin suddenly pulled out a protractor to measure it. “My name is Shen Ricky, please take care of me. I’m grateful to join your team as a trainee chef.”
Or, the one where Gyuvin doesn't understand why a model would suddenly want to change careers to become a chef, and Ricky shows him that the recipe to happiness doesn't always follow the book.
(Even if a few eggs have to get cracked along the way to get there.)

“No I–” Maybe Hao hadn’t read the moment right. Now is when she should lock back in, make a joke, and pretend that she was kidding all along. But she can’t, not when the words are already spilling off the tip of her tongue. “I want to stay with you forever,” Hao finishes her thought, undeterred.
Hanbin squeezes her even tighter as she replies, “Of course, Unnie. Let’s be roommates forever.”
or, hao is convinced she must be the biggest cliche on the planet as a lesbian in love with her straight roommate. but when hanbin's head is on her chest and their legs are tangled together on hao's bottom bunk, it doesn't feel crazy to think there's a chance she might get to keep this forever. that is, until the boyfriend hanbin never mentioned returns to their university, and hao fears she never stood a chance at all.

It's a bit deceptive to say, since there's at least twenty thousand people in the audience, and Hao hasn't actually met any of them. Though he may not know them, with the way the crowd roars in excitement at the sound of his voice, it's clear they know him. The rest of the lights flicker on, and behind him, the screen displays his face in a truly incredible number of pixels. Are those phones he sees being held up in the audience? People are actually recording this?
“You might know me because of a song I wrote a while ago,” he continues. “I was wondering, would you like to hear me sing it?”
Where Hanbin is the charismatic leader of the world-famous boy group Rose Horizon, and Hao, a normal college student, becomes an accidental pop star when he lands a spot supporting the band’s summer world tour.
The catch? The song that catapulted Hao to stardom was inspired by a chance encounter with Hanbin months ago—an encounter that Hanbin doesn’t seem to remember at all.

If any part of Hanbin was thinking about how this looked from an outside perspective right now, he would know that he had already crossed well over the line of propriety for an awards show. sure, joining zhang hao's paranormal investigation business might be an odd career deviation, but hanbin is a bit too far roped in (read: hopelessly in love) to get out now. plus, zhang hao seems to have a knack for solving whatever crimes, missing person cases, and recovering lost objects of that people bring to him with the help of his very legitimate and state of the art spirit-communicating devices.
the fact hanbin is an actual medium might be a small factor too. not that zhang hao is ever going to know that.

he’s already dialed hanbin’s number before the full weight of what he’s about to confess settles on him. hanbin probably won’t even pick up, and hao can just leave a voice mail confessing his sins. unless he shouldn’t? what if hanbin is already asleep, and he has to wake up in the new year to the news that his precious basil child is dead?
