Summary
Hwang In-ho was born into slavery in Joseon. After his parents were murdered, young In-ho escapes to the United States with the help of a missionary man, grows up in New York and becomes a Marine Corps officer. Decades later, he returns to his homeland with the mission of eliminating a traitor who was selling valuable information to Japan.

Seong Gi-hun is deep in debt that he can't pay off on his own, so he doesn't find it in himself to turn down a rather mysterious offer to spend a week with a man who is willing to pay generously for his time. He takes the risk, and then does it again and again while In-ho watches and teases him. As the vampire sinks his fangs into the man's neck, he thinks he is the one in control, completely oblivious to the rope rapidly wrapping around his own neck. Luckily for him, Gi-hun himself doesn't know that he's the one holding the other end of his leash.

The man in the picture looks about his age, and quite handsome for that matter—perhaps too handsome for Gi-hun’s liking. But that isn't something he should be focusing on right now.
The longer Gi-hun’s gaze lingers, the longer dark eyes stare back at him with an unsettling intensity. Even in the black-and-white print, there’s a quality to those eyes that leave Gi-hun’s body rooted in place. His breath hitches ever so slightly, his body tensing the longer he stares at them.
He decides to stop and shift his focus lower to find the name of the assailant.
