Alex closes his eyes and spurts the words out so fast that Henry can barely make out the beginning and the end of the sentence. At least he thinks it was a sentence.------------

Summary
Alex hates the bad days as much as Henry does. He doesn’t hate Henry for them, though, no matter how many times Henry has tried to convince himself otherwise. It took them a lot of time to get there, but Henry doesn’t have to hide for days anymore when he feels like his own brain is turning on him. He still fights Alex a little each time, but Alex is patient. He waits for Henry to re-emerge from his room like he always does, murmuring apologies and asking for a hug that Alex is ready to give every time.
He wonders if Henry can tell from the way he holds him that he’s been in love with him since about the moment he saw him.

“Brie.” Alex wraps his hand tighter around Henry’s ankle, needing the connection to keep him steady. “Do you… do you think you want a sibling?”
“Yes,” Brie says, sounding certain. Like she’s been thinking about this for a while. “A little one. Like Aunt June and you.”
The thing is, Alex and Henry have talked about it. They both love Brie more than the entire universe, but they also would love another child. They’ve looked into adoption a few times, considered how they’d handle the process if they ever decided to go for it. There’s money saved back that they haven’t decided on a use for, but that’s always been an option.
This is the first time the idea has felt real, though.

Three weeks before Henry Fox's tour for his fourth, highly anticipated, awards-bait novel A Brief War in December begins, his publicist Janella breaks her foot on a bunny slope at Windham.
Alex can't be mad at her, even though he kind of is. Saying it out loud would be like kicking her when she was down, and she already went down a literal mountain in the worst way possible.
Now crammed in Rafael Luna's corner office, Janella is shooting Alex extremely apologetic looks while slumped on her crutches, wearing a bright orange cast. The conversation about who is going to be joining Henry Fox on his multi-city trek across the U.S. is also going downhill. Alex is feeling the same sort of free fall while standing still.
Because out of all the publicists available in their tiny underfunded department, the only one left to escort their company's best-selling author is regrettably him.
The problem is, well, Alex absolutely hates Henry Fox.
Or: Alex is the publicist for Mountchristen Publishers, and is stuck on a two-week tour with their best-selling, but frustrating, author Henry Fox.
