“I’m going to die soon.”
Daichi looked up from his reading at Suga’s sudden words.
“What?”
“I said I’m going to die soon,” he repeated calmly.
The setter, who was lying on his back on the bed, rolled over onto his side and looked down at where Daichi was sitting on the floor. Daichi set down his book beside him. Suga gave him a small smile. Daichi frowned.
“Don’t say that.”
“Why not? Because it’s true?” When Daichi didn’t reply, Suga reached out and tousled his hair. “I’m sorry. I know it’s hard for you to hear me say things like that. But it helps me come to terms with it. Do you understand?”
Daichi closed his eyes and sighed. “I do.”
When Suga is diagnosed with cancer, it takes everything in Daichi's power to accept that within the year his best friend would no longer be alive. If Asahi told himself from five years ago he would be spending Christmas slow-dancing with Noya in the snow after the two of them had reconnected for the first time in four years while Noya was drunk and sobbing, he wouldn’t have believe it. Yet here they were, in an open field in the middle of the woods listening to classical music from a speaker in Noya’s pocket. Asahi vaguely wondered how his life came to this. He decided not to question it.
Christmas did not go as planned for Asahi, who had fallen into a repetitive life of work. Yet somehow Nishinoya Yuu invited himself back in. And somewhere in there a whole galaxy of possibilities was born.

His face was flushed and there were tears in his eyes. “Imagine Tanaka’s face when he takes a bite of this one!”The old team decide to have a reunion, and Suga and Daichi decide to bake a cake for them. What ensues is a bit of a disaster followed by a devious plan to see what sort of reactions they can get out of their old friends if they were served a strawberry shortcake made with salt instead of sugar.

“What is happening?” He asked St Simon, who was holding his phone tight to his chest, his expression odd. “Someone has died?”
Across the room he could see Marlow moving slowly upright from where he had been doing floor stretches, his phone in his hand as well, his face pinched.
“It’s Hollander,” St Simon said.
The bottom of Ilya’s stomach fell out, closely followed by the rest of Ilya’s organs. His chest hurt so acutely that he thought he must be having a heart attack.
“Not dead,” St Simon added quickly, reaching out to grab Ilya’s shoulder when Ilya’s knees actually buckled. “Jesus, sorry. I should have - no it’s just -”
“Someone tell me what the fuck is going on,” Ilya snapped, “and everyone else shut up.”
Marlow reached him now, held his phone out to Ilya, open already to an article with a headline huge enough Ilya could easily make out the HOLLANDER blaring out of it even before his eyes focused and he took the phone from Marlow.
A video is posted online, for Shane it feels like a death sentence. For some parts of him, it is.

Montreal sees Ilya Rozanov for exactly what he is, brutal, talented, and masculine. He’s the leadership the Voyagers need, he’s tough on his teammates, on himself, and he doesn’t take shit from anybody. However, he’s too quiet off the ice, and it’s unsettling. He’s everything and nothing they thought he would be.
