No response. The fledgling’s eyes flicker across Jihoon’s face, and Jihoon patiently waits for some of its humanity to rise to the surface.

Jihoon’s trudging along, quick and light on his feet lest an early morning waker sees the ghastly image of the pair of them, when his supernatural hearing picks up on a single word from the fledgling’s mouth.
“Wonwoo,” the fledgling mutters. His voice is scratchy, barely audible, even to Jihoon, but his voice is deep and wondrous, as if he had also just discovered something about himself.

The creature opens his mouth and… doesn’t speak for a while, while Seungkwan just stands there, frozen, blushing harder at the unexpected nickname.
“Why aren’t you coming?” The creature’s pale eyebrows knit together. “You didn’t like my song?”
That’s when Seungkwan snaps out of it. He starts gesturing frantically, then groans and smacks his own forehead.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you,” he finally says, voice rough and trembling. “I’m sure your song is beautiful—just like you—but... I can’t hear it. As much as I wish I could.”
The creature’s sharp eyes go wide in surprise—like he’s peering straight into Seungkwan’s soul—and then he tilts his head with interest.
