For some reason, Seokmin gets the impression that Mingyu is simply trying to talk to him to please someone else; to get out of trouble, would be the better way to put it; remembers that Minghao had thought to talk to Mingyu about his standoffish attitude toward Seokmin and almost immediately feels displeased. It bubbles, foreign and tasting of iron, in the back of his tongue.
“You know,” Seokmin starts quietly, more serious than he feels, “You don’t have to do this.”

Jongseong turns around to smile at him, but he’s not really looking at him, he’s looking at the house across the street, at the couple laughing in the front yard, their dog yapping happily at them; it looks normal, how Jongseong and Sunghoon are supposed to look right now, like they’re some happy married couple.
They’re not, Jongseong and Sunghoon federal agents, and the couple across the street are serial killers.

Jake shook his head, false confidence starting to slip away. “Of course not, why would it be?”
Sunghoon was wary. “Because, uh,” he took an index finger and slid it from his eye and down his cheek in one smooth motion. Jake nodded in realization.
“Oh, yeah, the tears,” he shrugged. “It happens all the time, you’re good.”
Sunghoon nodded cautiously. “All...the time?”
