Summary
While out at a club in New York to celebrate Pike and Jackie's joint bachelor/bachelorette party Shane runs into someone unexpected, Cliff Marleau. Feeling hurt and petty after having been ghosted by Ilya for the past six months Shane decides to hook up with Marleau.
Ilya is back in Russia and regrets having ghosted Shane. He thinks he will have time to fix things, to make things right, once he returns to Boston in the fall. What Ilya doesn't expect is to return only to find out Shane and Marleau are now in a relationship.

He can't believe he's really just talking to Rozanov’s teammate and friend about him. Not that he knows it’s about Rozanov, but still.
Shane's never having vodka ever again. But for now, he’ll let it lower his inhibitions—if only to get all of this off his chest. Maybe then it’d stop fucking aching.
shane strikes up an unlikely friendship with cliff marleau after he walks out of ilya’s penthouse suite in vegas feeling worthless. it’s all fairly innocent at first, until a threesome with shane and a woman awakens something in cliff that he’s never even thought about before. he confides in ilya without revealing who his secret gay awakening was, but ilya connects the dots anyway and goes on a jealous rampage before finally confronting his feelings for shane.

“No. No, Hollander,” Ilya coughed, eyes flitting around the room. “Is just– Is too much.”
“This is… too much?” Shane repeated slowly, incredulously. “We see each other maybe once a month. Less, even.”
“No. Is not that– You are just,” Ilya swore under his breath in Russian. His accent was getting thicker, the words clunkier, in the way it always got stronger when he was frustrated or tired. Shane hated himself for recognizing it. “...too much.”
OR
In the Heated Rivalry book, Ilya intends to break things off with Shane the night of the All-Star Game, but then Shane gets hurt. What if Shane never gets injured by Marlow, and Ilya really does break things off?
(Basically, a shit ton of angst and Shane Hollander learning to love himself. There will be a happy ending!)
