A simple question. One that, had anyone else asked it, Scar would’ve laughed. A rehearsed gasp from a diverse and ever-expanding repertoire. But Cleo just stared at him. Scar stared back. Shriveling under the realization that this was how others felt looking at him. When he pressed fingers to his temple and pretended to know anything more than a stranger’s septic thoughts.

Summary
A bright, glowing green lightsaber cuts through the door of Grian's cell. Buzzing as it goes, the metal metals like it’s nothing, arcing in a circle just big enough for a person to fit through. It looks straight out of an action holo. The cut-out part of the door pushes through and crashes onto the floor near Grian’s feet.
A head of tousled brown hair leans into the cell. Eyes as green as the lightsaber meet Grian’s. The man’s face breaks into a knowing, roguish grin.
“I’m Scar Goodtimes,” he says with a flash of his teeth. “We’re here to rescue you.”

Open the book.
Heart pounding, Grian paused. He turned to his side to see an alleyway next to him, dark and mysterious and looking straight out of a horror movie.
Grian. Open the book.
His body started shaking. Small tremors going through his arms, his legs. Not enough to make him fall over, but enough to be noticeably there. The back of his head began to hurt, the building up of a headache.
“Stop it.” Grian whispered, and like a light switch, everything stopped. His body stabilized, his head cleared, and Grian was going crazy.
Or, Grian finds a book that can grant all his desires, and makes a wish. But when reality starts to change and all his friends gain superpowers, Grian learns the hard way to be careful what you wish for.
