Summary
The Gogmazios hunt goes terribly, terribly wrong, leaving Shale to experience something she’d never wanted to witness again.
—
Olivia had been off since this morning when preparations for the hunt had been underway. Shale found her sitting quietly on the bench outside a borrowed tent, eyes fixed somewhere in the middle distance while she was lost in her own head. She’d sat beside her, pauldron brushing against pauldron, Olivia seemingly blinking back into the present.
Her voice had been practiced, mechanical, as she spoke, wearing the mask of a Captain to hide the fear that Shale could sense like petrichor before a rainstorm. She’d told Shale to not worry about her, to focus on her own unit instead. Shale had stubbornly refused to leave her side.
In her eyes Olivia was her unit. Astrum and Avis had spent more time together than apart these days, after all.

Summary
Zoh Shia had been the most hauntingly beautiful monster she had seen in her life, a man-made creature who defies every law of nature simply by existing. A false dragon who carries the echoes of others she’d fought before.
That familiarity, the instinct and muscle memory of battles long past working in tandem, was the only reason she was still breathing.
-
When faced with a monster that levelled a technologically advanced civilisation, the Avis unit hunter falls back on some bad habits and barely escapes with her life, leaving Olivia and her palico to ponder what comes next as Erik fights to keep her alive.

Summary
When she can’t sleep on the way to the forbidden lands, Olivia heads above deck to find some respite in the cold night air. Instead, she finds Avis unit’s hunter.
-
“You can call me Olivia.” She extended a hand towards her “I could ask you the same thing, though I hear you've a reputation for being a bit of a loner. Surely this weather isn’t doing those scales of yours any favours either.”
“Well, Olivia, I gotta keep some of my mystery, don’t I? And don’t worry, I can manage a bit of cold.” She shook her hand and sure enough she wasn’t lying, Olivia was a little taken aback at just how warm her scaled hand was for someone who’d been standing out in the cold for who knows how long. It felt like she’d been sitting inside, a respectable distance away from a hearth. Probably a boon of the wyvern blood in her veins. “Shale.”

Summary
“Okay, what the hell is going on between you two. It didn’t sound like the first time you’ve had an argument like that.”
“Is this really relevant?” Shale said, exasperated. “Surely we have more pressing matters to worry about instead of this nonsense.”
The felyne simply squinted at her, an ear flicking in annoyance. “Are you sure? I don’t think kissing Astrum unit’s hunter in front of everyone and then promptly getting into a spat about it, also in front of everyone, is nonsense.”
Shale let out a groan, briskly putting her sword back in its sheath and tossing it to the side in the vague direction of her shield. “Listen, Duke. It’s not your business, alright? So just drop it.”
“Not my business?!” He scoffed, ears swivelling back. “If we’re working with Astrum unit again and I need to drag you all the way back to the nearest camp for the billionth time because your eyes weren't on the monster, it very much is my business.”
