Summary
Joe knew all about the marks, knew about the bands, having seen countless movies and read countless books about them; having learned all about how your band appeared right around the age of puberty at school, and how there were entire units dedicated to the significance of getting your band in health class. He knew that it took years for someone to get their band, and that in extreme, rare cases, some people never got their band. He knew that while a band could emerge when someone is young, it could fade, change locations, and he hoped it wouldn’t happen to him. He longed for the day when his would appear, a blue at first, and then a green like everyone else, when his soulmate was near. Then finally, a deep amber gold once they met, a gold thread tying them together, one that only they could see, signifying the relationship.

Joe has yearned for his soulmate all his life. But as the years go by, finding that soulmate becomes much more challenging than he ever imagined.
