Summary
A minute of still more awkward silence passed before Lamb stood up. "Alright, get up, you're coming with me."
"What?" River asked because he couldn't have heard Lamb correctly.
"Are your ears out of order too? Jesus fucking Christ, Cartwright. You're coming home with me because you're in such a state I'm worried you'll throw yourself in the Thames and the paperwork for that would be a fucking nightmare."
A story mostly about River Cartwright and Jackson Lamb sitting on a couch together, set almost entirely in Lamb's flat. River POV (with a Lamb POV epilogue). It's about the moments in between; it's also about grief and depression and memory and friendship and kindness, more or less (Lamb would have scathing things to say about this).

Summary
Seven long years after the death of Harvey Dent, Commissioner Jim Gordon receives a Christmas present from his old partner which leads to a lot of chat sessions. (Also Bruce Wayne has returned to the social circuit and Jim keeps seeing him from a distance at fundraisers.)
(Yet another bit of Bruce/Jim fluff. Happy Holidays!)
B:
If we'd both stayed until midnight I could've revealed myself in the most dramatic way possible!Jim:
OMG LOL WTF NO LOL.B:
Why Jim, I don't know what you're laughing about.Jim:
Uh-huh. So I wasn't supposed to imagine that you planted one on me at midnight as a way of introduction or reveal or something. Would you tell me before or after the kiss?B:
After would be more dramatic or maybe nothing would need to be said! The kiss would say it all!Jim:
The kiss that said "I'm Batman!" -

Summary
In a Gotham after Bane and after Batman's sacrifice, Jim Gordon finally talks to Bruce Wayne and comes to some realizations. It turns out they might both be essential for the structural integrity of Gotham and both are interested in having a hand in structural change; getting to know each other and working together (again) might also lead to some unexpected personal structural changes as well as group chats with an ever-expanding group of co-conspirators.
Set in an alternate universe that's pretty much the same only Jim Gordon never learned that Batman was Bruce Wayne during The Dark Knight Rises. The story kicks off when Bruce Wayne returns to Gotham and Jim keeps running into him at fundraisers.

When Jim and Bruce finally do talk, things are awkward until suddenly they aren't; they go from being Commissioner Gordon and Batman to being Jim and Bruce and become close.
Then one night, Jim sees his BFF in a tuxedo and is overwhelmed with want—what the hell?
A story about when friendship takes an unexpected turn and navigating that. (Also there's stuff about what John Blake and Babs Gordon are up to—what the hell?)

Bookmarker's Notes
After the events of The Dark Knight, Gordon leaves Gotham with his family for a couple of years. He returns alone and things are different between him and Batman. Mostly Jim's POV with some Bruce POV.
There's a case. Bullock, Stephens, and Montoya. A Barbara Gordon that is likeable (and stays on good terms with Jim). Some parties thrown by Bruce Wayne.
And I just love the slow build as the relationship between Batman and Gordon changes as well as the slow reveal of who was under the mask at the end (one of my all time favorite reveals that happens after they're involved). A good example of what I like about this pairing.
"I left the city once," Batman offered, and Jim looked up, startled. It was probably the most personal thing he heard from the Bat, and one of the very few unprompted ones. He was almost afraid to speak, but nothing else followed, and he needed to ask.
"And?"
"Didn't stick," he said and stepped away, leaving Gordon wondering if it was meant to be comforting, or Batman's attempt at humour. Either way, it was something.

Fine Gordon/Wayne story told from Gordon's POV.
Batman swoops in and takes Gordon away from his home (where he's now living alone) just as a bunch of mob thugs show up. The chase is on with Batman on his bike and Gordon on the back of it in his pajamas.
I've seen plenty of stories where for one reason or another Gordon ends up staying with Bruce Wayne at his fancy condo, but I like how the reveal of Batman's identity is handled early in this story (as they flee the thugs). Alfred is awesome, as ever. Lots of things work well, I like how Gordon takes a great many things in stride (as he would IMHO) including when folks start making assumptions about his relationship with Bruce Wayne.
We have to go,” Batman murmured in his harsh voice. “Now.”
Gordon stood up and gazed helplessly around at the shadowy gloom. “Just let me get dressed.”
“No time.”
“I can’t go gallivanting about Gotham in my pajamas,” he protested in an indignant whisper.
“Sure you can.”
Suddenly he was aware of the dark shape looming over his shoulder, and oddly, the faint scent of cologne. He’d never really thought before about the fact that there was a man beneath the suit. “Come, now,” Batman whispered urgently, and Gordon heard the warped floorboard outside the bedroom door creak. Gordon’s heart hammered. They’d been talking about getting the floorboards fixed for years, never did manage to find the money. There was always something more important to budget for. Jimmy’s piano lessons. Babs was going to need braces soon.

I really like the Nolan Batman movies (though of course there are bits I don't like). And I suppose one part of it that I enjoy is that Batman and Gordon are out there fighting the good fight without much in the way of accomplices. I've never been sure about the whole Bat Family thing and can't quite imagine it in the Nolanverse. But Valmouth has now written multiple stories where it works wonderfully.
I'm not usually wild about established relationship fics, but you gotta love Gordon recognizing his daughter immediately when he first sees Batgirl in action and the great awkwardness that comes because Bruce didn't tell him anything about it.
He leads his people in, and he keeps them there, and he likes to think they help. That they hold their own.
The Bats and the Robins and the whoever else they have do what they do best and the Batgirl is curiously familiar.
He doesn’t like to think too hard about it. Doesn’t like to remember that it’s Bruce under that cowl. Or John under the hood. Doesn’t like to remember that Robin is probably a fourteen year old boy who should be safe at home – whose greatest concern should be school and girls, not saving Gotham.
But she is familiar.
The recognition comes to him between one moment and the next, and he is so stunned he freezes. He drops his gun arm. Stops aiming.

Lovely fic set post-Dark Knight where Gordon is police commissioner and divorced and suddenly the reclusive Bruce Wayne gets in touch with him. And he does see Batman a time or two (which is apparently rare since the events of The Dark Knight).
Gordon's POV is excellent and the tone and mood of this is just so clear. Gordon is tired. And then he connects with Bruce Wayne. I love a lot of little details in this where Bruce actually shares some things about his life. And the hints of Gordon piecing things together. The way the reveal is handled is lovely as is the start of something beyond friendship and partnership.
"I know we don't really know each other," Wayne interrupts. His gaze seems to search Jim's face for a moment, sharper than Jim can recall ever seeing before now. Then his expression relaxes slightly. "Call me Bruce."
"Bruce," Jim repeats.
"Jim. Let's get something to eat."
It's late. Jim hasn't eaten since a hurried sandwich at lunch. And it's not like he has anyone to go home to.
Bruce is leaning on his cane, his brows lifted slightly in question. For a split second, Jim sees a flash of the boy he'd once been. "Sure," he says, somewhat belatedly. "Something to eat."
There's a BMW outside. "No Lamborghini tonight?" Jim asks.
"Too difficult to drive with the leg like this." Bruce glances down at the brace. Then he opens the passenger side door and gestures. "But she's a smooth ride, I promise."
"No doubt."

Wherein Bruce pursues Jim and Jim is open to the pursuit and they both seem quite keen on each other. Does Gordon know who Bruce is? Well, it starts with Bruce POV but the very end is Gordon POV.
Pretty much an angst-free fic; rather nice to see these two just have fun together.
The first time Bruce had kissed Jim Gordon was unplanned. No matter what Alfred had said, muttered, mumbled, or implied by a pointed look or a raised eyebrow, all Bruce intended to do was go down to the station and give his statement
Honestly, he should have learned the lesson by now, about plans. And about Alfred being usually right, damn him.
There were... factors he did not consider, even though he should. For one, he knew Jim's workaholic habits, and should have really known he wouldn't go home to change, but would instead head straight for his office, throwing himself into work, bow tie gone, jacket carelessly thrown over the back of the chair. And while the thought of Bruce Wayne of all people being turned on by incomplete evening wear was quite ridiculous... it was nonetheless true. The suspenders are the worst. (Or the best. It really depended on how you chose to look at the matter.)
