“I have no secrets after our beloved human-can-opener Harrier du Bois. You’ll have none too, you’ll see.” Vicquemare straightens out, his gaze becomes sharper for a few seconds, more focused, slicing into Kim. “He’ll open you up in no time and eat everything that’s inside.” He closes his eyes, his head lolling back on the backrest. “And then he’ll spit it out in your face. And you know what’s the worst part?” Kim finds his eyes locked with Vicquemare’s again. He can’t look away. “You will love every second of it. Because when he’s good? Oh fuck me, he is the best.”
“And then it all falls apart?” Kim can’t help but ask. He doesn’t want to know. He doesn't.
Kim and Jean talk about the only thing they have in common – who might or might not be also the man who they're both pathetically in love with. A significant amount of pale-aged vodka helps.
