Summary
It’s the NHL End-of-Year Gala. Ilya is with the Boston Raiders while Shane is with the Montreal Metros. It was another boring event until a tall Russian man wearing a silk shirt, tucked in tight black, leather pants threw himself on Ilya, and Shane did the unthinkable.

Summary
“Shane, Sasha said to me, on my birthday: ‘‘Who will you go home with tonight, seeing as you’ve slept with half the bar already.’ And now I will tell him he’s a huge slut so he has no room to talk.” And then Sveta said something in Russian that Shane assumed was just that.

After the Long Game, Shane is determined to make sure Ilya doesn’t feel isolated anymore, which is how he ends up drunk at a Boston club for Svetlana’s birthday dancing with Sasha.Bookmarked by t0rr

Summary
No serious hockey fan or sports commentator worth their salt would have considered record-breaking Boston superstar Ilya Rozanov to be Shane Hollander’s rival exactly, but sleeping with a man who had a specific offense-related vendetta against him and a wrist shot like a jet engine to back it up was probably ill-advised just the same.
Or, Shane is a goalie. Ilya can’t score.

Summary
Several years into Rozanov’s career, ESPN hires a reporter fluent in Russian.
Suddenly able to answer questions fluently and with a wide vocabulary, Rozanov’s interviews go viral. Hockey fans around the world get a new look at what they thought about Boston’s #81. This changes not only his public persona, but his whole life.
Inspired by the look on NBA star Nikola Jokić’s face when he was asked a question in his native Serbian and my own struggles learning a new language.
