Summary
The kitchen of the Carte Blanche was full of cats.
Vespa stopped short, shoes leaving trails on the floor beneath her. She blinked, giving her head a shake. When that didn’t work, she stepped back, spinning around and leaving the room, putting her back to the kitchen.
With a sigh she spun back around, looking tiredly through the doorway and into the kitchen.
Yep. Five cats. In the kitchen. One meowed helpfully, approaching her on short legs.
“You sure you’re not a hallucination?” she asked, kneeling down to offer a hand for the cat to sniff. It mrowed again, nosing at her palm, ducking and stepping forward to rub its head on the underside of her hand. Vespa acquiesced, petting the top of the cat’s head with another sigh.
The other cats had begun to slowly approach as she had been focused on the small one, but now Vespa looked up, warily casting her gaze from animal to animal.
