Summary

“I thought he was getting better.” Sylvain snarled, pressing Mercedes harder up against the wall. “You said he was getting better!”
“Sylvain,” Annette tried, pulling at his arm. “You’re hurting her!”
“It’s okay, Annie,” Mercedes said. “Sylvain is just upset.”
He wasn’t just upset, Sylvain was breaking apart. He had trusted Mercedes on her word, he had believed that Felix was okay again. He believed that for some stupid reason that their heartache had finally passed. The war was over, they had declared outright their feelings for one another, everything was meant to be okay for the first time in Sylvain’s entire life and yet there Felix was, lying so still on that damn bed.
