The rain wasn't stopping. Soft echoes of thunder. Rolling like a freight train right at him, and Jigen blinked.
Darkness reigned in the hideout, interrupted only by the dim purple-blue light of twilight.
He swallowed what little saliva pooled at his tongue.
The beast was waking. Powerful cravings. His gun was clean, there's nothing engaging on the six channels of that ancient TV set, there's no VCR, no tapes, no working radio, and the rain's too heavy to go outside.
And not a soul to confide in.---
Please don't let me listen to Swans/Michael Gira when I write. I beg of you. It's not good for my brain nor my liver. And the end result is a stream-of-consciousness thing of Jigen angst based on alcoholism, passive suicidality, and general self-loathing.
All of this was written in one sitting. Technically a vent fic, wrote it because I needed to exorcize some demons. Figuratively, of course. -

He stood in front of where the trail ended. A drab apartment building sitting in the shadier part of Brooklyn.
There was a sign along Jigen's trail. Gravesend. Maybe it was another message.
With a sigh, Lupin fished out his lockpicks and a tension wrench. He mulled over his little sheets of hardened steel, guessed which one would be best for the job. The lock didn't look particularly strong or secure, so he settled on a wave rake. A few pulls and a little tension later, the door clicked open.---
Set during Tell Me, expands on the time when Lupin found Jigen passed out in a hideout somewhere. And it finally dawns on our favorite monkey-faced thief, that actions do, in fact, have consequences.

Summary
He took a right to some dirt road, finally dipping from the so often-trodden sunbleached asphalt and into the depths of some Eastern-European forest.
It didn't take long until they stumbled upon a cabin. It was large, with a space for four more cars, and a nice patio. Frankly it looked more like a whole-ass hunting lodge, but smaller.
Jigen got out of the car first, discarding the dog end beneath his heel. He turned back to the car, only to see Lupin get up to his feet and nearly faint from the effort.
The upholstery was absolutely drenched in blood.---
A heist goes sideways and Jigen has to patch Lupin up. Or so he tries. There's hurt, there's comfort, with a generous serving of fluff.

It took a lot of will and strength to wrangle his good arm into cooperation. It felt numb, distant, as if it wasn't even a part of him. Yet Daisuke lifted the limb, carefully maneuvering his palm over the heaviness.

Boys are vibing and having a moment. Technically a sequel to Merchant Street, but it's pretty much standalone. -

The air was thick with dust and smog. The gunman could see the fire of a nearby refinery lighting up the sky, and it was strangely beautiful in a way. He was by no means an artist, but Lupin attempted to nudge him towards photography. You're a natural, your composition is perfect, Jigen recalled Lupin's words and the gunman couldn't help the little smile twisting his lip. This would be a perfect shot. Wanna go steal a camera and some lenses? There's a store down the street and they have all sorts of fancy cameras, some clocking in at ten thousand euros!
And while it was tempting, Jigen refused. He had his gun and his Lupin, he didn't need a new hobby.

Summary
The wound could wait. It wasn't bad enough to warrant the abuse of his tie, but not superficial enough to simply leave unattended. Jigen planned on grabbing something to drink and work on sewing up his leg once they got to safety, like he had done so many times before. For now, he had to make do with old dog ends and an antsy Lupin.
---Bad day in a small town smack-dab in the middle of the European continent. The job went tits-up and the gang barely escaped with their lives intact. Jigen is tired and seeks respite at the bottom of the glass.
