Shane gets almost dizzy as he pictures a future (soonsoonsoon) where he gets to come home to this every day.
Keys that clatter in the bowl by the front door, and a call of Malysh, I’m home! A shared shopping list and laundry that gets so incredibly mixed that they both forget who originally bought which clothes. Grumbling about the kitchen being left untidy and arguing about weekend plans, because there now are weekend plans to even argue about.
Shane has to take a deep breath, at risk if passing out from the force of his desire. It drums beneath his sternum, the steady pulse of want that he knows so well. The same want he feels every time he steps out onto the ice.
or, it's Shane's first time seeing Ilya's house in Ottawa. He feels normal about it.

ahh i love it so much. ilya building a home for himself *and* for shane, and getting to show it off. even though they're not quite there yet, it's hope. there's future planning here. aughhh.
i love the way you describe shane's insatiability here:

This time yesterday, he’d already gone for his morning run, showered and had breakfast. Honestly, he should get up soon. He should go for his run. Just because it’s the off-season doesn’t mean he should forego exercising completely. But the idea of going for a run while Ilya is asleep in his bed, makes something in Shane’s chest twinge. Ilya, asleep and comfortable and safe, should not wake up in an empty bed. Not after the night they had, vulnerable and aching.

ahhh i love the energy you capture between them. it toes the line perfectly between competitive and soft. they push each other but they also really enjoy how that means they touch!
this makes me smile every time:
“Yeah? You want to have your way with me?” Shane asks, barely able to get the words out when Ilya drops himself down directly onto Shane. They both laugh at the oof that bursts out of him.and this aughh:
The words had been stuck in Shane’s throat for a while before he actually said them last night, in the sanctuary of their room. He’d learned to swallow around them, learned to ignore the I love you-shaped sentence. Still, he’d been worried to let them slip accidentally. Quiet moments where he’d held them on his tongue, between his teeth, just to savor the taste of them.and of course:
"Oh my god, Hollander, why are you trying to win at falling in love? Not everything is a competition."Shane rolls his eyes, but still asks, "Isn't it? With us?"

no but actually i love the way you've integrated the hockey into the conversations here. it comes across very naturally--theyre professional hockey players in season, one of which is obsessed with it. i'm glad you mentioned the importance of going to the hall of fame together, because there's something so,,, intimate,,, about sharing your literal dreams. of course they want this, but they also want that. together. it's a great exploration! -

I LOVE THIS
Of *course* shane would approach another language this way. the breakdowns and questions feel so in character. and ilya being a lot more relaxed because it's always been that way. i love reading stories where authors have extremely specific knowledge and use it in fics and find a way to perfectly apply it to the characters. while it's understandably difficult to learn, it really is fascinating to read about! ilya speaks russian and i *always* want to see him do it more!
the side comments in the dictionary definitions are hilarious
