"Anger had finally bubbled up at the surface and determined young Jiang Cheng had pressed on his wound with bitter resignation, as a form of punishment. Bile had burned his throat but at this point, he had forgone sleep and sanity. The pain sizzled up his leg, up and up past his stuttering heart, and right into his tired mind. It had silenced everything as effectively as Zidian tearing through flesh. He kept pressing on it curiously. He felt the stabs of pain dancing in tune with his pulse. His body had taken over for him. The thoughts receded as a primal part of his mind focused on the perceived threat, the pain thrumming quietly.
Thump, thump, thump.
Somehow he had finally succumbed to slumber. The next day to his severe disappointment the wound had healed and he had dismissed this bout of insanity as a conjuring of his tired mind.
Yet, here he is, years later, chasing the same thrill, that glimpse of madness that calmed his racing mind. He hadn’t forgotten it. He couldn’t."

At Lan Zhan’s expectant look, Wei Ying shakily took the other end of the ribbon, hearing a sharp inhale at the motion, and clumsily coiled it around Lan Zhan’s wrist. It reminded him of their adventure in the Cold Spring Cave, but when he looked up from their bound wrists and opened his mouth to mention it, he was struck dumb by the look in Lan Zhan’s eyes.
An intensity shone out from their golden depths as he clasped Wei Ying’s hands between his larger ones and uttered in a low, fierce voice, “You now have the allegiance of my Sect, of my family, and if necessary, the protection of my body as well.”
(Or, Wei Ying lives in 21st century China until a fateful day when he falls through time into the ancient cultivation world, where he finds himself torn between returning to his life in the future and the man who has stolen his heart in the past.)

In which after they were saved from the Xuanwu Cave, Wei Wuxian was punished by Yu Ziyuan and he has decided that he had enough. Wei Wuxian defected from Yunmeng-Jiang Sect. He left and he did not look back.

“You saw them? I wanted to bring some but I figured that Lan Zhan could use some friends.”“You said the rabbits have ribbons?”

Lan Xichen’s brows furrowed. Why does he feel like he missed something?And in which Lan Xichen realized that something more happened in the Cold Pond Cave.
Or a story where Wei Wuxian defected from Yunmeng-Jiang Sect before the attack and what happened to him and everyone else after that.

He could feel the frown on his face deepen and he clasped his hands in front of him again leaning on the table as he considered what he should do. He took a deep inhale trying hard to think of something, anything to ease his conscience that he wasn’t forcing this man into marriage when he wasn’t ready, but also that didn’t hurt the Jiang sect.
“Doesn’t the Lan clan have strict courting requirements?” He says after a while looking over the Lan elders and sect leader.

Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen have been betrothed for 10 years and everything is finally aligning for the sects to proceed. But in order to stop what feels like a forced marriage the Jiang alpha suggests he courts the Lan omega to stall and give the older male time, only to end himself up having to follow the Lan sect's rigid and detailed courting process because of it.

"I can explain-" Jiang Wanyin started, taking a step towards Lan Xichen. The elder unconsciously took a step back. Wanyin's expression grew increasingly complicated as well. Did it really pain him that much that Jiang Cheng was the one behind the letters?
"I saved every letter you wrote me," Lan Xichen rasped, voice trembling. "From the moment I read them, I knew you were- no, I thought you..." He stopped in the middle of the sentence, the taste of salt flooding his mouth as tears streaked his face for the first time since Jin Guangyao's death. "I thought you were mine."

Wei Wuxian feels heat rise in his cheeks at the question. There hadn't been a lot of talking at all, just a million tiny kisses pressed to his skin while Lan Zhan cocooned him in the soft clothes taken from his own closet and called him beautiful and pretty and lovely, all of it things Wei Wuxian can't make himself say out loud. "He said it was only right that I wear this tonight. That I should wear the Lan colors more often."
Lan Xichen smiles softly at that and eases himself next to Wei Wuxian onto the bed. "I guess I should explain it to you, then."

Lan Xichen once jokingly repeated Wei Wuxian's words regarding the absence of his sword.
However today, Looking at the young man who's lying unconscious on the bed — Lan Xichen realized:
Others can really do something, when Wei Wuxian has no clothes on!
...And this "others" referred to himself.

Summary
After watching his husband; his son; nephew; brother and little radishes dying in front of him one by one because of a source of resentful energy; Wei WuXian dies too as he destroys it.
But instead of darkness; he finds himself back in the past when he had just gotten kicked out of the cloud recess and everything looks so peaceful he can’t stand it. No…no no no he really can’t go through this hell again. Not again. Not after everything was supposed to be over.
Not knowing that Lan WangJi has been thrown back in time as well; he tries; and fails at taking his own life by slitting his throat open in the middle of lotus pier and so; he decides to show everyone the future.
If he’s going to live this hell again; he’s going to change it and if these people are suddenly so determined to keep him alive; then he’s not going to let them die either.It doesn’t matter if they end up hating him just as much as he hates himself.
(Or; another time travel fix-it which happens to be a watching the show fic as well! With our favorite baby boy and his husband; all their ducklings and their very much alive family and friends from the past.)

“What happened, child?” Lao Wang asked softly, staring at the tangle of her brothers. His hands were firmly set on his cane, but there was something soothing about his presence in that moment. It helped that he wasn’t actually looking at her when she started to speak.
“Father…Sect Leader Jiang found out that my brother and I are not his children. Our mother was an adulteress.” She took a deep breath, wrapping her arms around herself, starting to shake. “He…he kicked us out.”
