Summary
Ascian is the son of Grimmel the Grisly who resembles him physically, but a complete opposite by nature. He was born just months after Grimmel's death. His family never failed to tell him stories of how great his father was but for Ascian, it's all cruelty and his father was merely a brutal heartless man. Ascian is compassionate and satisfied with his life. He isn't ambitious like his old man which makes him a disappointment in his family's eyes.
Being the only son, many things were expected of him such as continuing the dragon trading/killing business. But having a passionate heart would lead Ascian to rebel against his family's will and leave home. He became an outcast for years, wandering the world alone and survived in the wilderness until he met the Night Light Ruffrunner.
