Summary
Georgia can’t fuckin’ breathe.
She’s usually good at handling shit like this. Angry men. Shaky hands. A racing heart. Hell, she’d be a little unsettled without ‘em.
She didn’t think Paul would do somethin’ like that, she supposes. She probably deserved it, all of those things he said—being called a Russian doll—but she just hadn’t expected the way his fist slammed into the wall right next to her face. She thought he was different.
Georgia knows what that first punch means. It’s a warning. It’s a promise, really: I’m not doin’ it to you yet, but look how easily I could.
~~~
Joe finds Georgia after Paul screams at her.
Summary
Lucas hasn’t cried since that night.
He’s not even sure if he cried that night. It’s just a terrified haze when he looks back on it now. All he remembers is the way the blood rolled down Max’s cheeks like tears. Sometimes it’s all he can see when he looks at her.
There’s no room for him to cry. Not with the weekly crawls. Not with the daily necessity to keep Dustin from getting himself killed. Not with Max lying lifeless in a hospital bed.
~~~
Lucas's refusal to feel pre-Season 5 and the quiet conversation with Steve that helps change that.

Summary
Dustin lingers on Steve’s doorstep for a good ten minutes before he knocks. He knows Steve’s parents are gone—locked out by the quarantine—but he’s worried somehow anyway. Or maybe he doesn’t want to ruin Steve’s night. He might’ve cared about that, in the beginning.
When he does knock, and Steve does open the door, Dustin has this whole plan of what to say. Everyone’s fine, he’ll say, because Steve will think the monsters are back. I’m fine, he’ll say next, because Steve will think he’s dying. Sorry about your doormat, he’ll joke, because there’s blood in the center of the O in WELCOME.
Instead, he bursts into tears.

Summary
Megumi was what any level-headed sorcerer would call a waste of potential. Because, really, the kid could be something bigger than life if he tried. But the only time Megumi truly applied himself was when he was trying to get bloodstains out of his sweater, when he was trying not to ask Tsumiki why she chose him, or when he was staring Gojo dead in the eyes the same night that the bastard came into his room without knocking, seeing him press a razor into his thigh with practiced sincerity. Yeah. Calling him a waste of potential was as gratifying as killing himself would be.
(or: it’s an old habit. this is a new conversation.)
