“You’re acting strange,” he says, blunt and without beating around the bush.
I take my time to respond. I lift my glass slightly, tilting it as if I’m analyzing something invisible.
“I think…” I begin, then stop. I swallow hard. “I think there was something in my glass.”
Force goes still.
“What?” his voice drops automatically—professional, serious. “What kind of thing?”
I shake my head slowly.
“I don’t know. But when I got back just now… it looked like there was a pill dissolving. Like… some residue at the bottom.”
A night out turns dangerous when Book says he suspects his drink was spiked. Now, Force has to get them to a safe place before the cameras catch them and that may lead to a confrontation they’ve avoided their entire lives.

“Right, yeah, okay,” Eddie shrugged, setting down his coffee mug with a loud thunk. He turned to face Buck fully, leveling him with a wide-eyed look. “Again, I have to ask. What?”

There’s a beat of silence—too long, too loaded.Eddie’s heart stutters, thudding hard against his ribs as he waits, breath held. God's really decided to test him today.
Then Christopher answers, casually, like it’s the easiest thing in the world. “No… he lives in L.A.”

Eventually, Buck breaks the silence. “Hey, Eddie,” he says, Eddie’s name soft as a prayer on his tongue.

Silently, Buck reaches over, grabs Eddie’s pink cowboy hat right off his head, and places it on his head.
Eddie’s blood freezes in his veins.
He grew up in Texas, so of course he knows that taking a cowboy’s hat and putting it on means you want to go home with them. -

Buck laughs at his own joke, but Eddie chokes on air.
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Eddie insists, clearly sounding defensive despite his best efforts otherwise. “That’s—that’s ridiculous,” he finishes weakly.
Buck pauses in his scrubbing.
“Eddie—”
“I’m gonna go to bed,” Eddie interjects, already heading off down the hallway to avoid Buck’s gaze. “I’ll see you in there.”
He resists the urge to facepalm as he realises he’s just invited himself into Buck’s bed tonight, but it’s too late to backtrack now.

“No, nothing, man,” Buck huffs. The extra air makes his voice sound stronger than it is. He inhales deeply. “Nothing’s wrong. I have the bread, I’m on my way back, just…”
“Traffic?”

“Uh,” Eddie manages, pointing to the door. Buck’s eyes are still somewhere past Eddie. “We should get back out there, huh?”
“Yeah,” Buck says.

“I’m not doing anything,” Eddie insists, sliding backwards until his socked foot touches Buck’s leg again.

Buck attempts to move away again, and Eddie follows him, refusing to stop touching him with his socks until suddenly Buck’s not there anymore and a loud thump echoes throughout the room.

“Shit,” Buck mutters, and Eddie can vaguely see the shape of Buck’s body in the dark as he heaves himself up off the floor. “What the hell is wrong with you?”
