There was this thing inside him, and it was an emotion, but it was thrashing and resisted him.
You are the one resisting. Snape cast the intruding voice so forcefully to the back of his mind he was surprised it didn't protest. But yes. Yes he had to resist it, because to feel like Hermione Granger was the sole person in the world who seemed to understand him - to want to understand him - to feel that and be even a little desiring of it, was unacceptable. Finally under the canopy of the trees at the edge of the forest, Snape turned his head towards the sky. The bare branches swayed gently, strangely gently given the ferocity of the wind.

Summary
Steve Rogers sails under the King's banner. He's aboard a galleon named The Triumph, which mission is to escort valuable cargo from Havana to Kingston. Matters quickly turn upside down for the entire caravan and Steve finds himself captive on The Black Swan with Captain James Barnes in control. These people are nothing like what every british officer claimed they were. They fight for freedom and a cause of their own. Before he knows it Steve's fate is sealed together with "the scum of the oceans" as Captain Barnes seems to take a certain interest in him.
