Immediately, the entire room erupts, in boos, hisses, and knocks on every nearby surface. Within seconds, Terrion is spluttering, buried under a mess of thrown pillows and winter wear. Amon-Ra thinks the superstition is kinda stupid, but he tosses his beanie anyway, since a little light bullying is always good for the rookies’ development.
“Do not bring up Bobby Layne,” Decker instructs, graver than death.
“Okay, okay!” Terrion says, swatting away Kerby’s incoming head-smack. “You get why I went there, though, right? Like, that reaction was why I went there.”

Porter leisurely snaps an arcane lock onto the office door. He stops and looks back at Jace. In the moonlight seeping through the window, his face is wrought half of flesh, half of shadow. His eyes gleam bloody red as the sun.
Jace’s body throbs, a furious heartbeat head to toe. He tells himself it’s a faulty response, some pulse of magic from the shatterstar in his chest. He tells himself that it’s not the sense-memory of straddling Porter’s thigh two nights ago, biting his mouth open till it turned the same shade of rage-hot red.
“If someone finds us here, I’ll break their spine,” Porter says calmly. “And you’re certainly welcome to watch. Now, how do we draw this circle?”

“Huh,” Cynthia muses, “so this is the little stray our dear Edamame picked up.” She waggles her fingers in a little wave. “Hello darling, I’m auntie Cynthia!”
“I’m not- that’s not-” Makoto tries to argue, but Cynthia is already gone, marching down the hall to her room. Laurent bravely fails to stifle his laugh, and between them Keiko beams.
“Do they all call you Edamame?”
“No,” Makoto snaps, and then gentles. “I mean, yeah, mostly. But that’s not my name.”
“What do you mean?” Laurent asks, leaning over Keiko to peer at him. “Have you been lying to us all this time? Your name isn’t really Edamame?”
Keiko giggles, and Makoto can’t do anything but roll his eyes. “I’m not going to deign that with a response,” he says primly. And then adds, in English, “Asshole.”
Keiko shrieks in a little burst of louder laughter and Makoto winces. Right. Fuck. She understands English, too. Great. Makoto rolls his eyes again. Makoto Edamura: Japan’s worst father figure; teaching a child to curse in not one language, but three!

A gay field day as in, spending what truly looks like every waking minute tweeting about two documentarians that only have any idea they exist because said documentarians are fending off a panic attack because of the tweets about their best friend they’re in love with. You know, like a normal making-a-documentary-for-Netflix-with-your-best-friend-you’re-in-love-with experience.
