“I missed you,” Barty says simply, shrugging his shoulders as if it was obvious.
Maybe it was. Regulus feels warmth spreading through his body at the thought that Barty had missed him. He lifts a duvet a bit and pats a place next to him. “Are you coming?”
Barty smiles before laying down. “Of course.”
Regulus feels Barty's arm wrapping around him, while he places his head on Barty’s chest and he sighs contently. He missed Barty too.

Summary
The moment James hears that Regulus is missing, it’s as if his mind detaches from his body. He disconnects. Something within him breaks. It’s happened before. It’s not too much of a surprise.
The next thing James knows, he’s standing on a battlefield with Voldemort’s dead body in front of him. This is more surprising.
This is what happened while James was gone. James won’t remember it, but he’ll have to live with it when he hears the story.

Summary
Barty Crouch Jr. never expected to find out that his best friend was holding some important secrets from him--namely that he was an unregistered animagus, one that Barty has adopted as his own pet. This proves to be important when Barty uses his cat as a confidant, only for him to be telling Regulus himself about his feelings for him.
Lucky for him, Regulus has proven that he can be bold, despite being the most stubborn person Barty has ever met. Adopting a stray black cat might prove to be the best decision he ever made.
