Summary
Jason’s finger twitches on the trigger. His face responds like he’s the one at gunpoint.
“Who the fuck are you?” He demands.
Clark sighs.
“Well I told you, I’m Superman,” he says, “but if it rings any bells, they used to call me Superboy-Prime.”
The result is instant. Jason’s eyes shoot open and his finger presses to fire. Clark is in front of him before he’s finished. He pulls the gun out of Jason’s grip by the barrel, faces inches apart as he cranes his neck down to make them even.

Summary
Willis contemplates the son he’s doomed to become the father, sitting on the couch he dragged three city blocks because it was free. The lights from the TV flash across cheeks that should be fuller, hair that isn't washed. Red, yellow, green.
A repeating cycle of brilliancy that makes him think for a moment his son could be something better, something greater than the sludge pulling them both down. The red comes back, lingers on his skin like blood under a streetlight, and the delusion dissipates. The shape of its absence leaves Willis low and empty; memorizing Jason’s face for the inevitable moment he describes it to the composite artist at the precinct.

Summary
Jason watches mutely in the minutes that follow. Curiously stares as Harv’s head lolls, eyes blinking heavy and muscles of the forehead twitching intermittently. A clearing of the throat signals a change in posture, shoulders rising up toward his ears and chin dipping lower towards his collar bones in protection.
Jason knows Harvey is in front of him before he speaks. It’s all in the eyes.

Summary
“When did you find out that you couldn’t die?” Dick asks with finality, “when did three times become a pattern that meant you should give up?”
“That’s none of your business,” Jason says.
“Alright then,” Dick concedes, “I’ll guess."
---
An exploration into Dick and Jason's relationship using the "Jason Todd can't die" idea.

Summary
When he was still alive, it seemed Willis couldn’t stop breaking the law for more than three months at a time. The inevitable moment he’d trade solid employment and routine hours for handguns and drug rings always came, no matter how good the goings were. The danger of the streets called him home like a lover. It was incomprehensibly stupid to Jason then.
But oh he gets it now.

Summary
Bipolar Jason Todd realness using canon content, sociological analysis on crime and class, hard-hitting descriptions of poverty, allusions and extended metaphors using Hamlet by William Shakespeare, and unreliable narration.

Summary
“What,” Dick says, then puffs out a shaky breath. He tries again. “What do you want?”
There’s a trace of petulance beneath the blatant confusion, a peevishness that automatically gets Jason’s hackles up before he consciously lowers them, along with an outward calming breath. “You called me, dickhead. Twice.”
“No. No, I didn’t – I.” Dick stutters before there’s a complicated sound, as if he’s dropped the phone. The tumbling motion abruptly halts, but even from whatever distance away, the receiver can still pick up stilted muttering.
Or,
Dick's acting weird. Jason is going to find out why.

Summary
Jason wasn't expecting the phone call. Well, he didn't expect phone calls in general, since his friends amounted to two guys who sat with him at lunch and talked to each other. He had forgotten one of their names, and at this point it was really, really too late to ask. It was either Michael or Mitchell.
Probably.

Summary
Same eyes, nose, mouth, and hair. She could even see the small scar on the corner of his bottom lip that she remembered he told her he received when he was young, before his mom had died. It was so faded now, but there was still a line, the slight groove where the skin improperly healed. She remembered how it felt against her lips when they kissed.
After more than a decade, Rena sees her dead ex-boyfriend from junior high.

Summary
“You know, I think I get why you never looked at me.” Dick turns but can’t bring himself to fully face Jason. He’s got his helmet on anyway, every effort seems wasted. The cave is empty around them, stiller than the night ever is outside its walls.
It’s just him and Jay for some accidental reason. Dick’s looking over a chemical diagnosis and everyone else is either still on patrol or upstairs, asleep. Jason says from his position, slouched against the railing, “It’s kinda ironic, huh.” And the accidental reason is starting to seem a lot less accidental.

Summary
There is no backup for the Signal.
Duke reminds himself of this regularly, like a prayer through gritted teeth: there's no one to catch him if he slips, to replace him if he stops. So the Signal can't give up. Just can't, like an immutable law, an undeniable truth. He has to win every fight. There isn't any other option.
Duke Thomas makes himself invincible. Untouchable.
Then he loses.
