"Bless me, Father, for I have sinned," He says, unbothered and with something like a yawn in between the words. "My last confession was, hmm, three days ago?"
"What can God help you with tonight?" Sangwon cannot feel the protection, or the isolation, that the confessional should provide. It is a place for God and its most faithful followers, yet he feels out of place. He wonders if He on the other side can hear his shallow breathing, smell his scent, know how he would taste.
"God? I don't know. But I am sure you can help me, Father," He answers.

He wants to laugh hearing the conversation, because if they only knew Sangwon is listening real-time. There’s also a memory in those words, in that reply. One that Sangwon would rather not remember, and he also wants to laugh at the lighthearted, carefree, simple way the younger says it, as if all this time, only he has been stuck in this place, trying to forget it all and forgive himself, while Anxin has long accepted it and moved on. He wants to laugh, but he finds his cheeks becoming wet instead, the blanket in his lap darkening in small circular spots as his tears fall down.
