He has run from the thought for the entire day. In the morning waiting in the penthouse, ignoring every performative Happy birthday, Lexy! blowing up his phone. This afternoon, standing in front of the mirror choosing the dress, the stockings, the wig—imagining ridiculous, soft-lit romantic getaways that would never, ever involve the man he was actually dressing for. This evening, thumbs hovering over a half-typed message to Clark, before deleting every word and pouring himself a drink, then ten.
But he can be good, now. He can let go.

Haruchiyo should’ve done something.He thinks about standing. Pressing the rice button and finding Senju’s favorite towel, soaking it with cold water like Take-nii does. But every time he thinks it, his body stays still.
The heat presses on him like a blanket he can’t crawl out from under.
