He was on the verge of a breakdown, he could feel it, at the TVA he was used to spending days without properly sleeping, it’s not like they needed much rest on a place where time doesn’t really pass anyway, but he was on a branch now, and his mortal body was almost failing him, the insipid slop he was given did little to sustain him, instead he was feeling nauseous and his head hurt more than anything, he wanted to go home, he wanted to have a warm meal, followed by a nice hot bath to rinse all of the dirt and sweat that was driving him insane and then finally, finally he would fall on his nice bed and have the best sleep of his life.

A strange look crossed his face for a moment—an expression of pain. As though your instinctual fear had physically hurt him. “It—! It wasn’t you I was even mad at!” He looked away and ran a hand heavily down his face. “Leo just gets me so pissed—!” He grit his teeth to hold back the anger and let out a shaky sigh. “That’s no excuse for snapping at you though. I was just—! I nearly—!” His head dropped and his shoulders sank. He looked absolutely miserable. “I’m sorry.”

Michelangelo was known for drawing on himself constantly. Partially because he was just very creative and enjoyed making small masterpieces on whatever he had at hand, but partially because he was - if nothing else - full of hope. Hope that all those stories about how the string that binds soulmates together is sharing marks on your skin were true. Hope that someday, you’d draw back.
When sunflowers started appearing along his arms and shoulders, as if drawing themselves upon his skin, he found himself hoping that someday he’d get to meet you. The sunflowers were Michelangelo’s pride and joy. He always made sure he left his arms and shoulders clear to be able to display them, to give you all the room you wanted to cover him with them. To cover him with little traces of you. His soulmate.

Summary
Raphael walks in, annoyance on his face until he sees the two of you. His brows knit in confusion, and he opens his mouth to ask what Mikey wants, but then his eyes finally land on the now bared arm you've been trying to pull from Mikey’s hold. His jaw snaps shut, and you feel your breath stall in your chest.
The waiting is the worst part. He is silent for one impossibly long breath, and then he is pushing Mikey out of the way to take your wrist in his massive hand. His eyes are still fixed on your bruised skin, silent rage building behind his gaze as he stares. You’ve never seen Raphael this still. Never seen him this angry before, and that was saying something. Several moments go by, and none of you move. It feels like you can’t breathe, like you’re suffocating under the scrutiny of his gaze on your marred skin.
“Say something. Please.” You beg quietly, voice tinged with fear and anxiety as you brace for the rejection you're certain is coming. Who would ever want damaged goods like you? Certainly not Raph, who values strength.
“He thinks he can beat on my girl?” Raphael snarls.
