‘Hero,’ ‘princess,’ ‘cat-lover,’ ‘spoiled brat’—and those are just the most basic terms Katsuki could use to describe him. Level One classifiers that can be voiced on the daily. Level Two begets phrases like ‘pain-in-the-ass’ or something to the effect of ‘Katsuki’s Entire Reason for Living,’ et cetera.

“Can you stay?”
The question surprises them both, even if Shouto has been the one to talk it into existence. But his tongue has moved on its own and before he could put a stop to it, the question was already out, lingering between them like a firefly in the middle of the night – delicate and enthralling but also eerie someway.
Bakugou looks too surprised to even blink, and Shouto’s starting to feel anxiety creeping up his chest, making his skin feel itchy atop the pain.
He shouldn't have asked.Or, alternatively, five times Shouto asks Katsuki to stay, then one last time he doesn't even need to.

It would go like this:
Katsuki would say he’s going to die first. That’s final, no question. Shouto wouldn’t agree. He’d get caught up in love and heartbreak and being unable to live without Katsuki by his side. And then Katsuki would throw it back at him—because he’s a fucking idiot who’s just as in love—and argue that he couldn’t live without Shouto either, so if one of them gets to have a choice, it’d be him.
When they go to sleep that night, their argument will have faded to nothing. Neither of them would bring it up again for years. For decades.
Ever.

He's not the strong one. Not when it comes to Shouto.
But this is different. Everything's different now. Shouto has someone else—someone waiting for him back home. Someone who gets to hold him and touch him and love him. Someone who treats him well. Better even.
Someone he deserves.
But instead he's here. With Katsuki. The poison.
