Summary
Rozanov concluded the interview with a nod, hefted his bag higher onto his shoulder, and turned to leave. Hayden’s first reaction was to notice that Rozanov had the same type of bag that Shane had brought to the arena by accident. That was then followed by the thought that it was funny that Rozanov’s bag had a worn out spot on the strap like the bag he’d been carrying earlier. And then some more capable portions of his brain informed him of the truth.
Shane had accidentally brought Ilya Fucking Rozanov’s bag to the arena.

“I wanted to talk to you.” Shane said. Ilya didn’t look up at him. He couldn’t bring himself to meet Shane’s eyes. He didn’t want to watch the joy leave them.
“I wanted to talk to you, too,” Ilya said, hollow. He traced Shane’s abs, his hipbone, memorizing the curves and the way it felt. He closed his eyes tight. Shane tried to sit up, so Ilya reluctantly let him. He pulled his hand away and did the same.
“Let me talk first,” Shane said. “Please.”
Ilya inhaled deeply.
“What is it?”

Or: Shane doesn't get injured the night Ilya decides he needs to break things off with Shane, and so he follows through with his plan. Neither of them are happy.
